In March 2009 I joined the "Valley
Woodturners", but since my lathe was
on back order, attended several meetings
prior to having the joy of displaying some
of my own pieces. Wow, there sure are some
fantastic woodturners in our club and community.
The best part about it is they don't hide
anything from you and during the monthly
demonstrations are more than willing to
show you the "tricks of the trade".
With such a wide range of experience in
every aspect of woodturning, you can't help
but learn or see something new at every
meeting.
I also joined the "Outaouais Wood
Carvers" in 2009 and have done carvings
in wood and soapstone, both medias providing
hours of pleasure and rewarding results.
I still can't believe the detail in some
of the carvings the members are bringing
in every month. We also have a monthly demonstration/explanation
of carving techniques which is a real eye
opener. Some of these people have been carving
since before I was born... and are still
carving with amazing details and skill.
The best part is that carving and woodturning
compliment each other. I am now making pieces
using both skills and having a lot of fun
doing it.
Anyway, I'm
hooked and have lots of wood/soapstone waiting
for my chisels & knives to make them
into something special, turned and carved
with a joyful spirit.
I hope you enjoy browsing through my website.
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful
day,
